Why won’t Microsoft Store reinstall… anyone else have this?

I’m out of ideas. I’ve tried every fix I could find… been through this forum, watched a ton of videos, and looked up threads. At first, the Store app wouldn’t open, so I tried that PowerShell command to uninstall it, but now it just won’t reinstall. I tried using Xbox app too, but that fails with some error. Even tried a few different commands and still nothing works. This is a brand new PC that I just set up, so this is making me crazy… it’s already midnight and I have class in the morning. Anyone else deal with this? Any help?

If it’s Java, use CurseForge for the launcher.

For Bedrock though, I can’t help. Good luck!

This might be a stretch, but did you ever disable Windows Update in the registry by any chance?

If it’s a new PC:

  • Try a System Restore if you have a restore point.

  • Use the Restore tool.

  • Or just reinstall Windows from a USB stick if nothing else works.

Try running this in PowerShell as Administrator:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I have the same issue on my Windows 10 setup, where the Store and other apps just won’t work. I haven’t tried the DISM command yet, but I think I’ll give it a shot.
