Why is my 4060 giving low fps? Anybody know why? …

I’m wondering why my brand-new 4060 GPU is only giving me a max of 90fps on low settings in every game I play. I just did a fresh Windows install and it’s still the same. Can’t find any fixes for this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here are my specs:

  • CPU: I5-10400F
  • RAM: 24GB CORSAIR
  • 500GB SSD
  • 2TB HDD
  • PSU: 850W

Thanks in advance!

Can you post a screenshot from the task manager’s performance tab while playing games?

I can load into a Rocket League quick play and get you a picture real quick.

Sometimes putting all settings to the lowest puts too much strain on the CPU because it assumes the GPU can’t handle it. Try adjusting the settings to a mid-range and see if that helps.

The only issue is that I’m running 40fps, but in a benchmark with DLSS on, it’s running 80-90fps on high settings.

You should just return it and grab a Battlemage GPU this Friday.

It’s not letting me send pictures, but it’s showing 45% GPU, 58% RAM, and 40% CPU usage.

That suggests a driver bottleneck to me. How much does the frame rate drop as you increase the settings? If it’s a small drop, it points to the CPU (or drivers) as the bottleneck, but if it’s a big drop, the GPU is probably the issue.

@ProblemSolver
I just upgraded from a 1660 Super, which worked fine for me. I used DDU to remove all old drivers, and I even did a fresh wipe of my system. I’m still having the same issue. The fps drop isn’t playable on high settings like it was with the 1660.

Do you have Afterburner installed?

Yes, I do.

Try uninstalling Afterburner and see if that fixes it. I’ve seen it cause issues in some cases.

@jordansmith
I can try that.

Didn’t work :disappointed:

I’m assuming you’ve already checked that it’s not capped in the NVIDIA software?

I’ve seen that all over Google, but I can’t find it when I look for it? :sweat_smile:

@Myles
Right-click on your desktop and open the NVIDIA control panel. You should find it there.
