Why is Epic Games downloading so slow? Anyone else having this issue?

I have a 520mb/s download speed, so internet speed isn’t the issue. But every time I try downloading from Epic Games, the download speed drops to 0B/s, and sometimes it jumps up to 15B/s every 30 seconds. Even a small 5GB download can take over 40 minutes. The read rate stays at a steady 25MB/s, and the write rate is also at 25MB/s.

Any ideas on why it’s so slow?

It sounds like you might be confusing megabits with megabytes and also the read/write rates of your hard drive after unpacking the files.

You’re probably right, I’m not super tech-savvy, but the download still takes forever and I don’t know what to do about it.

@Cassidy
What kind of speeds are you supposed to get from your internet service provider?

With a 500 Mbit connection, you should be getting about 62.5 MB per second. So your Epic Games Store downloads are actually much slower than they should be. Does the issue only happen with Epic Games?

@AngelaParker
Yes, it’s only an issue with Epic Games Store.

I’d recommend reinstalling the Epic Games launcher and clearing its temporary files. That could fix the problem.
