Hello, I haven’t screen shared in a while. It used to function, however as of right now, no app’s audio is shared. I tried utilizing things like blackhole, but it didn’t work. There are also no screen sharing options in the Discord settings. I use MacOS 12.6.8, by the way. I would be grateful for any assistance.
Hi Ann!
It sounds frustrating to have your screen sharing audio not working.
Let’s try a few steps to resolve this issue on your MacOS 12.6.8:
-
Update Discord: Ensure you have the latest version of Discord installed. Sometimes, updates include fixes for issues like this.
-
Select Application Instead of Screen: When you start screen sharing, choose the specific application you want to share instead of the entire screen. This can sometimes help with audio issues.
-
Enable Experimental Audio Capture:
- Go to User Settings > Voice & Video.
- Scroll down to Screen Share and enable the Use an experimental method to capture audio from applications option.
- Add Application as a Game:
- Go to User Settings > Registered Games.
- Click Add it! and select the application you want to share.
- This can sometimes help Discord recognize the audio source.
- Check System Preferences:
- Go to System Preferences > Sound.
- Ensure the correct input and output devices are selected.
- Check the Input tab to see if the microphone is picking up sound.
- Use Third-Party Software: If the above steps don’t work, consider using third-party software like Loopback by Rogue Amoeba, which can help route audio from applications to Discord.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you might want to consider updating your macOS to version 13 or later, as Discord’s audio-sharing capabilities are better supported on newer versions.
