What do you think? Will Apple eventually replace the MacBook Air with a laptop at this price? Or are they planning to keep their lower-end models priced at $1,300 for the MacBook and $1,500 for the MacBook Pro?
My guess is we’ll see the base model mb at $1099 retail, $999 with the education discount. But not lower than that.
The Macbook should really not be $1300. It’s an absurd price for what should have been their mass market laptop. It needs to be $999 at the most. In an ideal world, $799.
It also badly needs the new 2nd generation butterfly keyboard.
I honestly doubt it. They see the iPad Pro as their low end computer now.
Yeah, it’s a great computer for senior citizens on the verge of Parkinson’s.
But seriously, people who use a file system or have more complex apps cannot rely on an iPad as their primary device. There are some cases out there for sure, but if macOS and iOS are going to be as divided in differences that they are right now, then they’re going the wrong direction fast.
Apple needs to continue offering a low end notebook to remain competitive.
The reason why the Air is 999$ is because Apple still makes an absolute killing off of the margins of this laptop and it’s design has remained stagnant for years.
I can foresee the 12’ prices dropping, but likely not anywhere close to the 999$ region. At least not in the foreseeable future.
