I haven’t done any cleanups on my PC in 5 or 6 years. It’s getting slower than it used to be. The computer is 9 years old. All I want is to play League of Legends and have YouTube running in the background.
Do you know any of your PC’s specs? Is it a desktop or a laptop? Does it have a hard drive or a solid state drive?
A reset might help in some cases, but sometimes upgrading parts is a better option.
There are websites that check if your PC can run certain games. Maybe you should try one to see if your specs have changed.
Also, have you tried turning off your PC, removing the cables, and taking it outside to clean out the dust?
It could potentially run faster. But check out this site for more options https://vintageits.com/how-to-fix-slow-computer/.
Specifically number 14, sometimes updates can slow down a PC if the specs don’t meet the requirements. I doubt this is the case for you, but it’s something to keep in mind.
What are the specs of your PC?
It might help, but the first steps I’d recommend are to uninstall things you don’t use often. Use Task Manager to limit the number of programs that run on startup to free up more resources. Also, if you’re using a hard drive, defragment it to keep it running as efficiently as possible.
If you don’t want to do all of that, you can just factory reset. Keep in mind that you’ll lose any programs you’ve installed. If you’re running multiple apps at once and things are slowing down, upgrading your RAM might help. It’s pretty cheap and easy to do. If you’re still using an HDD, upgrading to an SSD will speed up boot times and general performance.
Hope that helps!
Yes and no. A factory reset will make your PC run as fast as it was when new, but over time, updates and new apps can make it slower. For example, my old laptop struggles to play YouTube videos now, but when it was new, it handled 1080p videos just fine.
I can’t see your specs, but if you’re having trouble with League of Legends, a new PC wouldn’t be too expensive.
I do a factory reset on my PC sometimes, and it does feel faster afterward. But honestly, your PC might just feel slower because it’s 9 years old. Technology moves pretty fast, and 9 years is a long time when it comes to computers.
