I am looking for tips on where to find diamonds in Minecraft. What are the best levels or biomes to search for them?

Hi everyone, I’ve been playing Minecraft for years, and finding diamonds can be a game-changer. The best levels to mine for diamonds are between Y-levels 5 and 12, with level 11 being particularly effective. I usually strip mine at this level to maximize my chances. Diamonds can be found in any biome, but cave systems and ravines at these depths are particularly good spots.

Diamonds can be obtained from diamond ore, a rare find found in about ~0.0846% (~1 in 1200) of blocks in levels 5-16. Diamonds can be found anywhere beneath layer 16, but is most common in layers 5-12 in version 1.17. 1 and below; in versions 1.18 and later they are expected to be most common between layers -50 to -64.
When I first started mining in Minecraft, I found diamonds to be quite elusive. Through a lot of trial and error, I learned that the best levels to find diamonds are between Y=5 and Y=12. I usually start at around Y=11 to avoid lava lakes, which are common at lower levels. While diamonds can be found in any biome, I’ve had the most success in caves and ravines rather than digging in specific biomes. Using a pickaxe with Fortune and carrying plenty of torches and food can also make the mining process smoother. Happy mining!
