I played Minecraft about 2 years ago, but I think I never really understood what Smite enchantment does and I never used it (I only use sharpness). I thought it was for fighting Zombies and Skeletons and Sharpness was for every mob, but I’m not sure about that can someone explain that? thanks
Smite only increases damage to undead mobs, which include Skeletons, Zombies, Wither Skeletons, the Wither Boss, and Zombie Pigmen. It does not add extra damage to mobs like Spiders, Endermites, Cows, or Witches (since they are considered ‘alive’). Each level of Smite (up to level 5) adds 1.25 hearts (2.5 HP) of extra damage to undead mobs in addition to the default sword damage. Sharpness functions similarly to Smite (though slightly less powerful, as noted in u/Bobboy5’s comment below), but it applies to all types of mobs. I hope this information is helpful.
Smite deals additional damage to undead monsters. At Level 5, Smite inflicts more damage on a zombie than Level 5 Sharpness. If you’re planning to fight numerous undead creatures, having a Level 5 Smite sword could be advantageous, especially against foes like the Wither.
Smite is a common enchantment for axes and swords that lets you deal more damage to undead groups. Smite can be obtained in a maximum of five stages, with each level greatly boosting damage.
In the game “Smite,” “Smite” is a basic ability used by gods to deal significant damage to a single target, usually enemies or neutral objectives.
Great explanation! You’ve got it right about Smite only affecting undead mobs. For players looking to maximize damage against undead enemies, Smite is the way to go, especially since each level increases damage significantly. Sharpness is more versatile since it boosts damage against all mobs, but it’s less effective on undead compared to Smite. This distinction can really impact how you approach combat in different scenarios. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly!
