I just saw a silverfish crawl into my MacBook through one of the holes near the hinges between the screen and keyboard (is it the speaker or mic?). Should I worry about this? What can I do? I don’t know how to get it out.
Looks like it’s time for a laptop stress test!

Or open a bunch of computer vs computer games in the Chess app lol
Send a spider in there to do the job.
Silverfish are fragile. It might crawl over something hot or spinning and explode into nasty silver goo. Best thing to do is heat up your laptop by stressing the CPU, and hope the silverfish finds its way out through the vents. Just make sure the vents are unblocked.
You could open up your laptop and use low-pressure air (like from a blower or can) to try and force it out. If that doesn’t work, either spray your room with pesticide or keep the laptop in a case or bag.
Wait, silverfish are real?

Yes, and they look freaky too.

Yeah, but they’re usually harmless.
I’m not sure about silverfish. I know ants can do serious damage to a PC, but I don’t know if silverfish would. It could cause a short if it gets into the wrong parts though.
You can open the bottom of your MacBook easily with a screwdriver, and you’ll be able to see all the parts once you remove the plate.
It’ll probably find its way out if it gets too hot, or it might just die. They usually prefer damp places. They’re small, so it probably won’t do much damage. Just keep using it and see what happens.
You saw it enter, so you should’ve acted fast. Any living thing inside your computer can cause a short circuit and kill it.

Have you ever tried to catch a silverfish? They’re really quick. This one was already inside the hinge when I opened the laptop.
Have you ever tried to catch a silverfish?
Just lift the laptop
No laptop on surface = no silverfish in laptop

It was already on the laptop. Lifting it wouldn’t do anything.
@Brogan
Gotcha!
Okay, this is kind of off-topic for this forum, but I live in a rural area and my house gets invaded by insects all the time. I bought a couple of products to deal with it: Link 1 and Link 2. I sprayed the Ortho outside my house and the HotShot in areas where I see insects inside. It really helped reduce the number of bugs. Not sure if you need this or if it was just a random silverfish, but figured I’d mention it. Good luck, hope your laptop survives!
