Selfies are appearing upside down

I’m not sure if there was a recent update, but today whenever I take a selfie, it looks fine in the viewer, but when I capture the photo, Messenger flips it upside down. It works properly in the camera app and other messaging apps; the issue only occurs in Facebook Messenger.
I’m using a Pixel 8 Pro.
I’m uncertain whether the problem lies with the app or the phone.

I’m experiencing the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. I’ve tried reinstalling the Messenger app, restarting my phone, and turning it off and on, but the issue persists. Selfies are still being flipped upside down in Messenger, even though they appear correctly in the camera app and other messaging platforms

I’m also facing the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra😌. In addition to reinstalling and restarting, you might want to check your Messenger settings to ensure it’s not compressing images. Alternatively, try using the default camera app to take selfies and then send them through Messenger.

At least we know others are having the same issue.
Videos and selfies with background effects work fine. Interestingly, when I turn the phone upside down, it doesn’t flip the image to the correct orientation.

Happens with my phone also. Front camera works perfectly fine. Just when I take selfie in the messenger app for some reason it flips it completely upside down. Just got a pixel 9 pro XL

To resolve the issue of selfies being flipped upside down in Facebook Messenger on your Pixel 8 Pro, you can try the following steps:
Check for App Updates: Ensure that your Facebook Messenger app is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer updates.
Clear App Cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Messenger. Tap on Storage and then select Clear Cache. This can help resolve any temporary glitches.
Restart Your Phone: A simple restart can sometimes fix unexpected issues. Turn off your phone and turn it back on.
Check Camera Settings: Make sure that your camera settings are correct. Sometimes, auto-rotate settings can affect how images are captured.
Reinstall Messenger: If the problem persists, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Messenger app. This can help reset any settings that may be causing the issue.
Test in Safe Mode: Boot your phone in Safe Mode to see if any third-party apps are causing the issue. If selfies work fine in Safe Mode, a third-party app may be interfering.
Contact Support: If none of these solutions work, consider reaching out to Facebook support for further assistance. They may have more specific guidance for this issue.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the problem effectively. If the issue continues, it may be related to a bug that could be addressed in a future update.
