PC shuts down when playing Destiny 2, but not other games

PC Specs
Ryzen 5 5500
7600 XT 16gb
32gb DDR4
M.2 1TB
Win11

So for context I can play any game at 1440p@120+fps like cyberpunk, Valhalla, call of duty and many more but when I try to play Destiny 2 I play for 5 mins and my full PC shuts down, my cpu doesn’t ever go over 55 degrees and GPU is under 75 degrees. I’ve ran as administrator, ran in compatibility mode gave full permissions to Destiny and still the same thing. I did see someone else’s post on forum like 2 years ago with this issue but wasn’t clear if they ever solved the issue.

When I had a gaming laptop it ran fine but on my main PC just doesn’t cope with it.

Please someone help me new dlc comes in days

Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC.

TURN OFF YOUR ECC

had the same problem until last year, ended up swapping my nvme, my psu, and my gpu. still had the issue. then i turned off ECC in my cpu settings, and the issue stopped for good. you’ll be fine.

Power supply?

If its just shutting down, with no warning or anything. Then the psu is probably overheating. I had the same issue with no mans sky years ago. Checked my psu and it was covered in dust

I had 750w one and it was still happening so I got another MSI Mag 650w and still doing it so it’s definitely not the PSU and like I said I can play any other game but not Destiny

When you say “shuts down”, you mean the PC turns completely off, right? It doesn’t restart or anything on its own? The only thing I can think of is a power supply issue - Destiny may be using more power than other games (for some reason) and the PSU shuts off. What kind of power supply do you have?

@Caelan
Well the PC seems to restart but without display so I have to manually shut it down and then turn it back on.

I don’t over clock any of my parts never really needed to.

PSU was a 750w and I assumed it was cause it wasn’t a rated PSU so I bought MSI Mag 650w

@SarahBrown
What are your crash logs showing?

I was running a Corsair CX650M with my Ryzen 5800X3D and 6800XT. I KNEW it was on the threshold of what the PSU was rated for. It worked through 4 different systems, and work with the latest build for about a year before one day while playing Days Gone, it just shut off and wouldn’t turned back on. Immediately my mind went to PSU. It was it’s time and I knew it. Replaced it with a Corsair RM750E and it booted right up and has been excellent since.

To me this sounds like your PSU getting ready to shit the bed, but it COULD still be other things like a corrupt install of the game, issues with the game and your hardware in particular, or just a bug in your Windows install.

I’d start with a new PSU. If that doesn’t fix it, I would recommend a clean windows install and fresh game install. If THAT doesn’t work, possibly issues with your RAM, Mobo or GPU, but none of us can really be sure without seeing the rig ourselves and having alternative hardware to swap out to see what’s causing the issue.

Definitely sounds like your PSU or Motherboard (power distribution). 650 may be cutting it close to power usage. A quick power calculator online says you need ~500-599 watts. If you have a low efficiency PSU or any overclocking (even if it is the automatic stuff) is happening, you could break 650 really easily.
