Hey everyone, I’ve got a problem with my PC, and I’m hoping for some advice. Everything was running fine until today. I downloaded Photoshop, and after trying to use it, my PC froze up. The CPU temperature jumped from 33°C to 44°C, then kept climbing when I turned it back on—up to 53°C. I unplugged it, let it cool for a bit, and it finally turned on but booted into the safe startup screen. I chose normal startup, but it crashed again. After leaving it off for an hour, the temps went back to normal, but when I clicked Chrome, it crashed again. It’s a new build by a pro, so I’m pretty freaked out. Any ideas?
Legit PS?

Yeah, it turned on again pretty quickly—like 10 seconds—but the fans are going wild, and my CPU usage is sitting between 60-80%. I’m scared to click anything because last time I did, it crashed, and my CPU temp went up 3°C in less than a minute.
@Gerald
And… it crashed again with literally nothing open.

If by ‘PS’ you mean power supply, then yes—it’s a brand-new MSI MAG 850 from Newegg.

No, I meant Photoshop. Is it legit?

Oh, yeah, I bought it directly from Adobe. It’s a legit subscription.
@Gerald
Did you try uninstalling it?

I can’t—the PC won’t stay on long enough to even do that. It crashes as soon as I try anything.

Yikes, if you can’t even get into Safe Mode, that’s tough. Maybe unplug everything and try again? Sounds like a conflict or corrupted install.
@Clare
I did unplug it. I think I messed up when it booted into Safe Mode the first time and I just bypassed it, thinking everything was fine. I’ve got two storage drives: a 4TB Samsung 990 and a 1TB Samsung 990 (OS-only). Any idea how to force Safe Mode? Also, should I just wipe everything and start over? I can redownload stuff, but IDK if I’ll even have time before it crashes again.
@Gerald
To access Safe Mode in Windows 11, restart while holding Shift, go to Advanced Startup Options, and select Troubleshoot > Safe Mode. Once you’re in, uninstall Photoshop via Add/Remove Programs. After that, do some research to see what’s causing the issue.
@Clare
I tried, but it skyrocketed to 82°C and shut off before I could even boot into Safe Mode.

That’s rough. If it’s shutting off during boot, it might be a hardware issue. Maybe check your thermal paste or cooler installation?
