My laptop can't connect to my TV after router swap… anyone know why?

I’ve always been able to connect my laptop to my TV wirelessly. Today, my landlady had the ISP replace the router. Now, my laptop can’t find the TV on the available device list. Both devices are connected to the internet and are on the same network. I can still connect my phone to the TV, though. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Update: The technician came back and fixed it somehow. There’s a language barrier, so I’m not sure what he did, but it’s working now. Thanks for your suggestions, everyone!

It might be client isolation that’s causing the issue.

Maybe one device is on the 5GHz band and the other is on the 2.4GHz? I’m not sure if devices on different bands can talk to each other.

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Is your laptop connected to a VPN? Some devices don’t play well with that.

If I were you, I would turn off the Wi-Fi broadcast on the new router and get a different one. Then, just plug the new one in with a patch cable and you won’t have to worry about the issue again.

+1 to checking the 2.4/5 GHz settings.

It’s probably a UPnP issue. The new router might not have it enabled like the old one did.
