Is this a virus that spreads through Facebook Messenger, or is it some kind of advertisement?

If you type something that looks like a URL, it shows a snippet like that. So be careful in typing.

For example, if you typed in the chat “google.com” it automatically reads as a link for the users to tap into and visit. It also works with short domains like .ru, .se, .co or anything as long as a “period” follows an alphanumeric string that could be a url or short url.

Try it.

Thanks. Is this a new feature?

I’m not sure, but it seems like every messaging app allows people to share links. So even if it’s just a typo and shouldn’t really be a link, it will still look like a link in the chat. That’s how it works in most messaging apps.

first time she had seen anything like that, and it didn’t show up on any of her other messages. Do you know what it could be?
