I think the Discord app is going to get worse with more updat

I use Discord on Android with a screen reader because I’m visually impaired. The old version worked well for me and was convenient to use. But the recent update has made things miserable.
Before the update, the Android app didn’t give me any problems. But now, the screen reader doesn’t work properly anymore. It’s not doing what it’s supposed to do.
I also had an issue with the voice channel function. I wanted to stream gameplay, but Discord randomly disconnected for no reason. I had to go back into Discord, reconnect, and then go back into the game, which caused another loading screen.
I’m so fed up with this new update that I’m considering uninstalling the app from the Play Store and downloading an APK of the previous version instead. The new version just doesn’t work well for me as a visually impaired user.

Discord’s mobile app has always been frustrating for me😡. I wish there was a simpler “lite” version that only had the basic features, without all the extra admin and mod stuff. There’s only so much a phone screen can show at once, so it would be great if they optimized it better to use that space efficiently. The current app just feels cluttered and unoptimized for mobile.

Honestly, I’m just over the Discord app at this point. I’ve lost faith in them being able to give us good updates that actually listen to user feedback. Sure, bug fixes are fine, but anything new they add is just a miss. Either they add unnecessary stuff that makes the app awful to use, or they ignore the features we really want. I dread every update now because I know the changes will be disappointing. It’s just one letdown after another.

I agree, I’m about ready to have somebody make a third party discord client it’ll be called discord classic, it’s simply discord without the bugs and without the bloat and that actually works and doesn’t cause any problems🤔. It will actually be compatible with Android windows and Linux and it will actually work with the screen reader. And it won’t actually be a buggy mess like the regular discord client is and the goal of it is to be fast and lightweight

Just so you know, Discord is strict about banning people who use fully custom clients. Modified clients are usually okay, but using a completely custom one can get you banned.:eyes:

Look at revolt. its pretty much the same but very much early. its still being worked on but everything you can do in discord you can do on there for free. though accessibility might be limited

Oh hey, thanks for spreading the word for revolt🥰. Actually tried it out and it looks pretty cool and screen reader functionality is actually better than discords, but hey, thank you for spreading the word about revolt, it’s always nice when people spread the word about open source applications that are not widely used are that are just getting started

it’s been promising! I’m trying to get more of my friends and my gf on it. There’s still a lot of things that need to be added and worked on but it’s better!:ghost:

Oh cool, I spread the word for open source apps and games when the right time comes.:handshake:
