I accidentally turned on vanish mode on Instagram while chatting with a friend, and now I can’t figure out how to turn it off. Every time I open the chat, it automatically goes into vanish mode. Does anyone know how to disable vanish mode on Instagram?
Just swipe UP on the chat window with your friend and let go. If it says “Release to turn off vanish mode” then whoosh! Regular chat is back on.
If you’re stuck in vanish mode on Instagram and need to get out of it, here’s what you can do: try swiping up or down on your screen while in the chat. This should bring up a message saying “Swipe up to turn off vanish mode.” Tap that, and you should be back to normal messaging. Let me know if that works for you
The same thing is happening to my right now. I can’t read the previous messages, so I know it didn’t turn off, but it won’t turn off.
