I deleted my screenshot folder… how can I get it back?

So, I accidentally deleted my screenshot folder and didn’t think much of it at first. But now, my screenshots just disappear and don’t save anywhere. I’ve already tried creating a new folder with the same name and some other things people suggested, but nothing worked. Does anyone know how I can get it back?

Solution: Windows will create a new screenshots folder, but it might be in a different place. Try going to File Explorer and typing ‘screenshots’ in the search bar.

Try going to File Explorer and in the address bar, type:

shell:screenshots

Windows might have recreated the screenshots folder somewhere else. This command should take you there no matter where it is.

This usually happens because, as far as I know, if there’s no Screenshots folder, Windows will create one the next time you take a screenshot.

@Lilyharper
Thanks a lot! That worked!

When you delete a folder, the contents usually go with it. It’s possible to recover them, but it’s not guaranteed (check the other comment if you want to try recovering data).

You mentioned ‘screenshots go nowhere’… What platform are you using? Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS?

And which app do you use to take the screenshots? For example, Steam on PC?

@TechTalker
I’m using Windows, and I take screenshots using Windows key + shift + S.

Have you tried checking your Recycle Bin? You might be able to restore the folder from there.

If the folder is deleted, try to stop using the drive or use it as little as possible. You could try using a recovery tool like EaseUS Free Data Recovery Software for PC to recover it.
