How to unlock a permanently locked snapchat account

Hi Snappers,

In the past few weeks, I’ve noticed some strange things happening with my Snapchat account. I often get logged out randomly and have to log back in. A few friends have sent me confused snaps, which I don’t remember sending.

Then, I received an email saying my Snapchat account was locked for using third-party applications, which I haven’t used since I have an iPhone. After changing my password, my account was unlocked, but today it was permanently locked again for the same reason. I’ve only received that one warning. Despite emailing support multiple times, I keep getting automated responses.

The most frustrating part is that I’ve never used a third-party application. I believe my account was hacked! It’s so disappointing to lose your account for no reason. I have friends in other countries from my international school days who I can’t call or text, but can Snapchat. I don’t want to make a new account because I can’t remember all the usernames of these long-distance friends.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? How can I unlock my account?

My friend experienced a similar difficulty, but he was able to address it by continually contacting Snapchat support directly. He made an effort to describe his case carefully, emphasizing that he had not used any third-party programs. While waiting for an answer, he made a temporary account to stay in touch with friends. He eventually recovered access to his account after updating both his Snapchat app and iPhone, using a strong password and enabling two-factor authentication for further security. It took patience and determination, but he is finally back in control of his Snapchat.

If you see a message in the Snapchat app that your account has been temporarily locked, you can try to unlock it yourself. Go here, log in, and select “Unlock."

There is nothing more to do but pray and call Snap Support.
