I want to change what I see in my home feed and search results. Even when I search for something different, it still shows results from my boards rather than what I’m searching for.
For example, I have a board about apples, so my home feed is full of apple pins. When I search for bananas, it still shows me more apple pins than banana pins.
I once found myself in a similar situation on Pinterest where my home feed was inundated with content from a specific board, overshadowing what I was actually searching for. In frustration, I accidentally reset my Pinterest preferences in an attempt to clear things up. What I discovered was that by going into my account settings and clearing my search history and preferences, I was able to reset the algorithm’s focus. I also unfollowed some boards that were dominating my feed with irrelevant content.
This adjustment gradually shifted my home feed and search results to show more of what I wanted to see, rather than being overwhelmed by one particular interest. So, if you’re experiencing the same issue where your Pinterest feed isn’t reflecting your current searches, try clearing your search history and adjusting your preferences to align more closely with your current interests like bananas instead of apples.
There is a ‘down arrow’ next to your profile photo in the upper-right corner.
Choose ‘Tune your Home Feed’ after clicking on it. After that, the instructions are rather self-explanatory. The feed will progressively change over time, but until you are more satisfied, you will notice little adjustments.
This is something I do frequently. Occasionally, I look up something for a friend in which I have no personal interest, yet my home feed then displays the choices of that friend. I simply adjust my home feed to regain my own preferences. It works, but slowly.
