How Do I Deactivate Facebook Messenger?

Hi everyone…

I just decided to take a break from social media and have already deactivated my Facebook account. However, I noticed that I’m still receiving messages on Facebook Messenger. I want to deactivate Messenger as well but can’t figure out how to do it.

Can anyone guide me through the steps to deactivate Facebook Messenger? Also, will deactivating Messenger delete my message history or affect my account in any other way?

Frustrated with Messenger even after deactivating Facebook? Here’s the catch: you can’t deactivate Messenger alone. Deactivating your Facebook account will also turn off Messenger. Don’t worry, your messages are safe (for now) and will be there if you ever return to Facebook. Just head to Settings > Account Center > Deactivation and follow the steps.
