I recently took some pictures of my baby daughter using a brand new SD card in a DSLR camera. However, when I look at the SD card on my computer, it’s showing as empty. The card was formatted on the correct day and time, but all the folders are empty, and the properties show 16GB of free space. We’ve tried several recovery programs, but we can’t find the pictures. We’re desperate and have nothing else left. If anyone can help, we’d be really grateful for your suggestions.
It could be that the pictures are saved in the camera’s internal memory. A lot of people put an SD card in their cameras but don’t set them to save to the card. The same thing happens with phones.

The camera was a DSLR that belonged to the hospital. They only used SD cards for their patients. Does a DSLR have internal memory? I don’t think mine does, but I’m wondering if it’s worth asking my midwife about it?
If this is really important to you, I’d recommend turning everything off and going to a professional data recovery firm.

How do I find a reputable one? Are there any accreditations I should look for? We’re based in the UK.
Maybe you didn’t choose where to save the photos, so they might be on the camera’s internal storage instead of the SD card. Also, if you didn’t format the SD card before using it, the photos could have been saved to the camera’s internal memory.
