Can I use an old TV (2005-2012) as a PC monitor?

I’ve got an older TV from around 2005-2012, and I’m wondering if I can use it as a monitor for my PC. I thought a cable that goes from my PC (HDMI or DisplayPort) to SCART on the TV would do the trick. Am I on the right track?

Yep, that should work. No big issues.

It should be fine!

Just a heads up… I tried using older TVs for this before. It may work, but the resolution might be pretty low. Depends on the TV and what you’re okay with.

Thanks! Not too worried about the quality. I’ve got a main monitor for serious stuff. This would just be for fun, like maybe having a Discord call or Spotify open.

I’m thinking of doing something similar but with a newer 4K TV. The price for a 4K TV is way less than a 4K monitor. Would love to know how it goes for you!

A new 4K TV should work perfectly. Just stick to HDMI, and you’ll be set.

@Cody
Thanks, that’s good to hear!

Yeah, HDMI should work for newer TVs no problem. I’ve used HDMI before, but this time I’m curious if SCART or VGA will work with my old TV. I’ll let you know how it goes!

@Code
Thanks for keeping me posted!
